Two Days....I can make it!

What a week it has been! It is the week before spring break, and the closer it gets the more exciting I am getting about a simple thing as sleeping in and having nothing to do. This week at school it is SAT week...you know as a student I loved taking them...one they were fun to me, we got "out of class", and had a snack time. Administering the test is a whole other world....lots of reading, lots of walking around the room, and lots of making sure my kids are where they are supposed to me....most of all LOT of bubbles. I spend several hours Friday filling in bubbles for my kids names.....including the OSLAT books...so 20 plus 20 equals 40.....well minus the 10 my aide did I did 30 books. Now I have to go through and check through them for any extra "marks." This takes a while to do....since I still have to administer the OSLAT tomorrow I am working on the SAT booklets....needless to say----after this week I will definitely be ready for a break! After I get back from spring break it will be all downhill from there--my students and I will be getting ready for our Kindergarten Graduation.

Its funny....one of my kids said he wanted to be a teacher so he can eat M&M's.....I told him that being a teacher is a whole lot more than eating M&M's....:-)

Starbucks!!!

 The past two days at school have been.....crazy. I feel like my head was spinning. So after school, on Wednesday, I took my trip to Starbucks to get my "little cup of happiness." Starbucks came out with a new drink--a Hazelnut Macchiato. It is made the same as the caramel macchiato except hazelnut syrup is drizzled on top. It was good--but I think it would be better with extra hazelnut drizzle...I couldn't really taste a strong hazelnut flavor. I enjoyed my Starbucks as I always do! Friday is a half day of school...so during lunch I am going to go get me a viente macchiato of some sorts....extra espresso of course...I have a lot to do after school tomorrow and need my pick me up! ;)

I love my macchiatos! Delish!

My Starbucks that is right around the corner of my house---they know me very well there. ;)

Getting New Glasses

It has been several years since I have had an updated pair of glasses. I decided that this year I would let insurance cover the cost of glasses. Having never paid for my own pair I went into this experience as I would like to call it nervous and excited…unsure about what I wanted to do. I had a mindset of what the cost would be. I was thinking between 150-200 dollars, since I have to get the special thin lenses. I looked and looked at frames…there were some pretty ones and there were some ugly ones…there were some that looked cute but not on me. I just couldn’t decide which pair to get….the following underneath were three of the six or more I tried on.

So as you can see I had some decisions to make. So I did what any girl would do…take pictures of myself and sent them to a friend and asked which one? I liked the first but they didn’t seem to fit my personality not make my eyes light up. The second one,,,would have left me saying what was I thinking. The third I tried on several times, put them back and went back to them at least three times….So I chose..(drumroll) number three—I loved how they fit on my face and how my eyes were almost in the center and it didn’t really take up a whole lot of my face.  I especially liked the inside…they were this really pretty bright blue color. It also had really nice earpiece design.

I then ordered my glasses and then after paying for them thought….”what was I thinking…” A few days later the optician called and said my glasses were ready. When I put them on for the first time everything looked weird…and I mean weird…wavy, jumbled, bright…..yeah strange feeling. My eyes not only had to adjust to a new prescription but also to glasses…I mean I have been constantly wearing contacts every day since 11th grade. I do have to say I love my glasses and have worn them a lot more than I thought I would. My students say I look “teacherly” in them. Winking smile My eyes have now adjusted to a new prescription and at the moment I am kinda attached to my new specs!

Oh and enjoy the last pics! Winking smile

Five MInute Friday: Home

"Home is where the heart is"

I have the advantage of having several "homes." A piece of my heart is in all different corners of the globe. My heart is in NC, where my mother, father, and sister are (and her dog). My heart is up in Indiana where my dear Uncle Earl is. My heart is in Arkansas where many of my extended family live. My heart is in Virginia with Amy (and her new little one-Benjamin), my heart is in Canada with Hannah. My heart is in Germany where the Skinners are--I love it there and dream to go back someday. My heart is here in Florida where I teach my 20 students, hang out with a few good friends.

I know anywhere I go I have a home....I left pieces of it everywhere.

and now for a Frank Sinatra classic "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" {and no I never been there}
